Multipath Interference Meter—MPI-800-NS

Raman amplification uses the fiber as gain (distributed gain, that is) medium. Double Rayleigh backscattering and connector reflection are amplified, in both directions; this can cause multipath interference, thus increasing bit-error-rate (BER).

EXFO offers the only instrument—the MPI-800 Multipath Interference Meter—that allows quantifying this phenomenon.
